 Education

Though India is the fastest developing country in the world, higher education is still a dream for many, according to the U N D P Report 2005, India is ranked 145th in the world in Literacy rate. Though 96% of the children are initially enrolled in schools, 50 to 60% of them do not get an opportunity to pursue high school. This is evident from the statistics released by the Education Department.

The main reason given by parents for such early school drop outs is the lack of financial resources. Considering the fact that, the parents in the rural regions are struggling to make their ends meet; spending money for education is still a luxury they cannot afford. Confronted by difficult choices, they are forced to withdraw their children from schools and send them to work so that they can perk up the family's income. This puts an end to the educational aspirations of many aspiring students.

Financial Assistance
Vizhuthukal reaches out to such students who are forced to discontinue their studies due to monetary constraints. We offer financial assistance to the students by satiating all their educational requirements. We also help them avail bank education loans. This gives them a chance to pursue their ambition without any economic anxiety.

Career Guidance
Our research shows that students from rural schools are not exposed to the ideal opportunities available in order to help them choose the right course after their schooling. So Vizhuthukal educates them on all the possible opportunities in the present world. This program is planned to be conducted with the help of veterans in the respective fields.

Self Improvement Training
Activities of paramount importance include, supporting the students to get the best out of the time they spend at school, helping them learn employing creative ways and ensuring that they get good marks

Our trainings also help them improve on their day to day learning activities besides programs and exercises for improving memory skill, handwriting, Communication abilities, and Confidence Building & Self-Motivational practices.

 Public Health
Health is an asset that immensely influences the socio-economic growth of our country. Access to public health services is nominal and health standards are grossly inadequate for the vulnerable sections of the society. Vizhuthukal's endeavour in this regard is to help the underprivileged get quality health care services.

With most of the people in the remote rural areas being well below the poverty line struggling to get even two square meals a day, healthcare remains beyond the reach of the poor populace who can never afford the cost of medical treatment.

Aggravating the fact is that they have poor awareness about health and hygiene. There is an urgent need to change this scenario and improve the prevalent health conditions. Vizhuthukal intend to work on these public health issues and promote awareness on health and hygiene which will help us lead a healthy life.

 Sustainable Livelihood
Sustainable livelihood is the inception of job opportunities that empowers individuals or group of people to earn sufficient income for their livelihood. It also capacitates people to lead a life of dignity.

Vizhuthukal works for the people who live in the remote rural areas of India who support the nation's economic growth but still remain at the backstage unkown to many. To improve their livelihood and sustainability Vizhuthukal plans to work on creating alternative livelihood options for their comfortable living in the rural areas and thus avoid their urban migration.
