We hope as you all were aware about that Vizhuthukal volunteers had a meet on March 16, 2008 at 10a.m on Sunday at Ascentas Tech Park, Chennai. As per our discussion, the education development team have proposed and shared their views as well as inputs on conducting career guidance programme for the +2 students of Gandhiji Vidhyapeedam – Kanniservaipatti, Theni District.
Education development team further came up with the entire plan and frame work for the programme and their presentation documents had also been verified by the entire team at Vizhuthukal. There after their activity had been confirmed and planned to be conducted on March 29, 2008 Saturday at the school campus.

First Step
Since this was our first step towards our subsequent goals, we had worked towards the reality found at the school. For which, the following activities have been performed:
Conducted a discussion with the Head Master & Asst Head Master of the school to confirm the date for the program
› Co-ordinated with the students for their availability after the public exams
› Got approval from the teachers before conducting the program
› Analysed the requirements of the students through this program
› Collected the college and course details in and around Theni
Our Educational development team had done it to perfection in a short duration, beyond their official & personal commitments.
Career Guidance Program
The members who were involved in the programme and material preparation are

The team had given the students guidance on state of the art topics like,
› What career is, importance of goal-setting, and can form the set of ideal
personal & economic goals
› How to achieve the goals by analyzing present and future risks of job market
› The hurdles that may occur in life towards achieving our professional goals
and how mitigate them by choosing a right career of the student’s choice
Finally our team had distributed the materials which we collected about the colleges and courses available in and around Theni district which immensely helped the students.
There was a discussion with the students regarding societal awareness and its importance. They were also enlightened on the various activities performed at Vizhuthukal On knowing the information, students exuded their interest to be a part of Vizhuthukal, and expressed that they would like to contribute physically on their part when ever they can. The English teacher Mr.Sam has also accepted our request to help us make use of volunteers in that local area.
We also received some request from the parents of those students for financial help for their kids to continue their education after the school. We have requested them to give their details to the school head office, which can then be forwarded to us after their review.
We found that these students were extremely interested in taking our inputs about the existing opportunities in order to help them pursue their future better What more could make us immensely elated than the overwhelming response of the youngsters at the school?
